Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a permit for a fence?

It depends on where the property is. In the City of Houston (including Kingwood and Summerwood), a permit is needed only for fences over 8 feet or masonry and concrete fences. The City of Humble requires a fence permit inside city limits. In unincorporated Harris County, a permit is needed only in a mapped special flood hazard area. In unincorporated Montgomery County, work in a mapped floodplain needs a floodplain development permit. We check your address.

Do I need approval in The Woodlands?

Yes, for nearly every new fence. Your village’s Residential Design Review Committee approves fences under the Township’s Residential Development Standards, and applications go through the Civic Access Portal. Repairs need approval when more than 8 linear feet is replaced or moved. Interior fences 4 feet or lower are pre-approved.

How tall can my fence be?

In The Woodlands, solid fences can be 7’6”, or 8’6” along arterial and collector streets, and see-through fences 6’6”. Elsewhere it’s usually your HOA’s limit; in Houston, anything over 8 feet needs a permit.

Who handles HOA paperwork?

We prepare the drawing, height, material, style, and stain details for your RDRC or HOA submittal, and start once you have written approval.

Do you call 811?

Yes, before every dig. Texas 811 marks public utility lines; private lines like sprinklers and landscape lighting aren’t marked, so please show us where yours run.

How long does installation take?

Most residential fences take one to three days on site. Approval and utility locates usually set the start date.

What does a fence cost?

Cedar typically runs about $30 to $47 per linear foot installed, aluminum $40 to $75, and chain link $15 to $40. See the pricing guide for more, and expect a written, itemized quote after we measure.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, through Hearth, with plans from a 550 credit score and possible 0% offers at 680 and above.

What's your warranty?

Every installation carries an 18-month limited workmanship warranty from the completion date.

Which areas do you serve?

The Woodlands, Spring, Porter, New Caney, Splendora, Kingwood, Atascocita, Humble, and Huffman.
