About Atascocita
A lake town built around neighborhoods
Atascocita sits on the east shore of Lake Houston in unincorporated Harris County, with more than 88,000 residents at the 2020 census. It's almost entirely master-planned neighborhoods with active HOAs, several built around golf courses or water, so the fence questions are usually about what the HOA allows and how to handle a lot that backs to a view.
Harris County: no county permit for a residential fence outside the special flood hazard area. Inside an A or V zone, a permit with a site plan and fence design is required.
Summerwood: inside the City of Houston. A city fence permit is needed only above 8 feet or for masonry and concrete fences.
HOA: separate from any permit, and required in nearly every neighborhood here.

In nearly every Atascocita neighborhood, yes. We prepare the drawing, materials, and stain color for your HOA’s architectural review and start once it’s approved.
What fence works on a lake or golf course lot?
A see-through ornamental aluminum or steel fence is the usual choice, and many HOAs require it where a lot backs to water or a fairway.
