About Oakhurst at Kingwood

A golf course neighborhood in the pines

Oakhurst at Kingwood is a Friendswood Development Company community of about 700 acres in the forest on the west side of US 59, in Porter. The centerpiece is Oakhurst Golf Club, an 18-hole daily-fee course designed by Dave Marr that opened in 1994. The community also has neighborhood parks, greenbelts, and a recreation center with a competition-size pool. New home sales finished in 2017.

Despite the name, Oakhurst sits outside Kingwood and outside Houston city limits, in unincorporated Montgomery County and the 77365 ZIP. The Oakhurst Community Association covers the clubhouse and common areas, and homes are in a MUD. Schools are New Caney ISD.

Lots run from golf course frontage to pond lots to interior lots under mature trees. That mix, plus a neighborhood that finished building out in 2017, means a lot of our work here is repair and replacement.

What works here

Fences that suit Oakhurst

Golf course and pond lots

Powder-coated steel on the back line keeps the view and holds up near water and sprinklers.

Ornamental steel →

Rebuilds under big trees

We set posts around roots and rebuild tired fences in shadowbox or board-on-board cedar.

Stain and seal

Shade and pine needles keep wood damp. A wash and stain slows the gray and the rot.

Plan first

Before you fence in Oakhurst

  • Association approval. We confirm the Oakhurst Community Association's rules for your section and lot type before we quote.
  • Permits. No city permit in unincorporated Montgomery County. A county floodplain development permit applies only in a mapped 100-year floodplain.
  • Golf-facing lines. Back lines on the course may carry their own rules. We check before we draw the layout.
  • Trees. We move a post rather than cut a major root, and we plan the line around big trunks.
  • Texas 811. We request utility locates before every dig.

Community and county rules change. We confirm what applies to your address before we quote, and we don't build until approvals are in hand.

Questions

Oakhurst at Kingwood fence questions

Do you serve Oakhurst at Kingwood?

Yes. We work throughout Porter from our office at 1401 Lake Plaza Dr in Spring. Estimates are free, and we’re open 7 days, 7 AM to 7 PM.

Is Oakhurst part of Kingwood or the City of Houston?

No. The name points to Kingwood, but Oakhurst is in Porter, in unincorporated Montgomery County. City of Houston fence rules don’t apply. A county floodplain development permit is needed only if your lot is in a mapped 100-year floodplain.

What fence should go on a golf course lot?

Owners on the course usually want to keep the fairway view, so powder-coated steel is the common choice on the back line. We confirm what the Oakhurst Community Association allows on golf-facing lines before we quote.

My fence is from the original build. Repair or replace?

New home sales here wrapped up in 2017, and many fences are older than that. If the posts are sound we can replace pickets and rehang the gate. If posts are rotting at the ground, a rebuild on steel posts usually costs less over time. You get a written quote for either.

Do you stain fences?

Yes. We power wash and stain cedar fences, and we match the color your association requires.
