About Woodridge Forest
Ponds and trails at Kingwood's back door
Woodridge Forest covers 332 acres in Porter, just north of Kingwood near US 59. Homes have been going up since 2012 from several builders. The community has a resort-style pool, a splash pad, playgrounds, a stocked fishing pond, and lots on the water. Its trails connect to the Kingwood Service Association system, and Woodridge Forest Middle School sits inside the neighborhood.
It's in unincorporated Montgomery County, not the City of Houston, even though it shares a border with Kingwood. Woodridge MUD provides utilities and a community association handles exterior review. Schools are New Caney ISD.
The fence question here usually comes down to the lot. Pond lots call for a see-through back line, interior lots want full privacy, and lots near drainage ways need posts set with water in mind.
What works here
Fences that suit Woodridge Forest
Pond-side steel
Black powder-coated steel along the water keeps the view and handles damp ground better than wood.
Ornamental fences →Cedar privacy on interior lots
Board-on-board cedar with a cap closes the gaps that open up in builder fences as they dry out.
Cedar fences →Pet-safe yards
Tight bottoms, puppy pickets, and self-closing gates for dogs that test every gap.
Pet fences →Plan first
Before you fence in Woodridge Forest
- Association review. We confirm the community association's fence guidelines for your lot and get approval in hand first.
- Permits. No city permit here. A Montgomery County floodplain development permit applies only in a mapped 100-year floodplain.
- Water-facing lines. Pond lots may have different rules for the back line. We check before we quote.
- Drainage. We leave room under and around the fence so yard water still reaches the swale.
- Texas 811. We request utility locates before every dig.
Community and county rules change. We confirm what applies to your address before we quote, and we don't build until approvals are in hand.

Questions
Woodridge Forest fence questions
Do you serve Woodridge Forest?
Yes. We cover Porter and the Kingwood area from our office at 1401 Lake Plaza Dr in Spring. Estimates are free, and we’re open 7 days, 7 AM to 7 PM.
Woodridge Forest is next to Kingwood. Do City of Houston rules apply?
No. Kingwood is inside Houston city limits, but Woodridge Forest is in unincorporated Montgomery County. There’s no city fence permit. A county floodplain development permit applies only if your lot is in a mapped 100-year floodplain.
What fence works on a pond lot?
Most owners on the water want to keep the view, so powder-coated steel is the usual pick along the back line, with cedar privacy on the sides. We confirm what the association allows on water-facing lines before we quote.
Who approves a new fence here?
The community association reviews exterior changes. We find the guidelines for your section and help you submit the plan before we build.
Can you replace my original builder fence?
Yes. Woodridge Forest has been building out since 2012, so many first fences are due. We rebuild in cedar on steel posts, with an 18-month workmanship warranty and a written quote.
