About Gleannloch Farms

From Arabian horse farm to 2,100 acres of homes

Gleannloch Farms started in the 1950s as an Arabian horse farm owned by Douglas Marshall. Homebuilding began in the late 1990s and ran for more than a decade. Today the community covers about 2,100 acres in unincorporated Harris County, roughly bounded by Spring Cypress Road to the south, Champion Forest Drive to the east, and Boudreaux Road to the north.

The land still shapes the lots. The 27-hole Gleannloch Pines Golf Club opened in 1999, there are several lakes, including catch-and-release fishing lakes, and the equestrian center remains. Homes range from patio homes to larger estates, and some sections are gated. The Gleannloch Farms Community Association oversees the neighborhood.

For a fence, that means a lot can back onto a fairway, a lake, a trail, or another backyard, and each one calls for a different approach. We look at what's behind your lot, check the flood map, and confirm your section's rules before we price anything.

What works here

Fences that suit Gleannloch Farms

Golf and lake views

On lots that back onto the golf course or a lake, powder-coated steel ornamental fencing keeps the view open and holds up to sprinklers and humidity.

Interior-lot privacy

Between neighbors, cedar privacy or board-on-board is the usual replacement for an aging builder fence. We match the stain color your association specifies.

Pool enclosures

A backyard pool needs a barrier with self-closing, self-latching gates. We build pool enclosures in steel or cedar to fit the rest of the yard.

Plan first

Before you fence in Gleannloch Farms

  • Approvals. We confirm the community association's current fence requirements for your section and prepare the drawing and written quote for your request.
  • Permits. Unincorporated Harris County requires no fence permit outside the special flood hazard area. Inside an A or V zone, a permit with site plan and fence design is required.
  • Flood and drainage. Lake-side and low lots get a flood map check first, and we choose designs that let water pass.
  • Golf course lines. Rear lines on the course may have their own rules on style and height. We check before we design.
  • Texas 811. We request utility locates before every dig.

Community and county rules change. We confirm what applies to your address before we quote, and we don't build until approvals are in hand.

Questions

Gleannloch Farms fence questions

Do you serve Gleannloch Farms?

Yes. We install and repair fences throughout Gleannloch Farms, in both the 77379 and 77388 sections. Our office is at 1401 Lake Plaza Dr in Spring, just off I-45.

Do I need a county permit for a fence in Gleannloch Farms?

Gleannloch Farms is in unincorporated Harris County. A residential fence outside the special flood hazard area doesn’t need a county permit. With this many lakes, some lots sit in or near a mapped flood zone, so we check your address before we quote. If it’s in an A or V zone, the county needs a permit with a site plan and fence design.

Do I need HOA approval?

Plan on it. Gleannloch Farms has a community association, and fence changes generally go through its review. We confirm the current requirements for your section and give you a written quote and drawing to include with your request.

What fence works on a golf course or lake lot?

Many owners want to keep the view, so see-through ornamental steel is a common choice on the rear line. Whether a solid fence is allowed there depends on your section’s restrictions, which we check first.

Can you replace the original fence from when my home was built?

Yes. Homebuilding here started in the late 1990s, so many original fences are well into their second decade. We’ll tell you whether a repair will hold or a replacement makes more sense.
