Fences for Spring Trails
Wooded lots along the Spring Creek Greenway, where trees and the floodplain map come first.
About Spring Trails
A neighborhood built inside the trees
Spring Trails is a master-planned community in unincorporated Montgomery County, started in 2003 by Houston developer Midway. It sits between the Grand Parkway on the north, Old Holzwarth Road on the west, and the Spring Creek Greenway on the south and east, close to the Hardy Toll Road.
More than 400 acres of forest were kept as part of the plan, and about 10 miles of hike and bike trails run through it. The community has 19 residential sections, three of them gated, and the Spring Trails Community Association oversees the neighborhood.
That much forest means a lot of fence lines run along trees, trails, and wooded reserves. Lots near the greenway can also fall in or near a mapped floodplain. We check both before we design.
What works here
Fences that suit Spring Trails
Cedar along the woods
Shadowbox or board-on-board cedar looks at home against the forest and gives privacy from trails behind the lot.
Wood & cedar →Working around trees
We route the fence line around large trunks and roots instead of through them, and hand-dig post holes near trees.
Fences around trees →Pet fences
Wooded edges mean wildlife on the other side. A tight cedar fence with a dig barrier and self-latching gates keeps dogs in the yard.
Pet fences →Plan first
Before you fence in Spring Trails
- Approvals. We confirm the community association's current fence requirements and prepare your drawing and written quote.
- Permits. Montgomery County requires a floodplain development permit for work in a mapped floodplain. We check your lot against the map.
- Flood and drainage. Lots near the Spring Creek Greenway get a flood map check first, and we leave room for water to pass.
- Trees. We plan the line around big trees and roots, and we don't clear reserve land behind your lot.
- Texas 811. We request utility locates before every dig.
Community and county rules change. We confirm what applies to your address before we quote, and we don't build until approvals are in hand.
Questions
Spring Trails fence questions
Do you serve Spring Trails?
Yes. We install and repair fences throughout Spring Trails, including the gated sections. Our office is at 1401 Lake Plaza Dr in Spring, just off I-45.
Do I need a permit for a fence in Spring Trails?
Spring Trails is in unincorporated Montgomery County. The county requires a floodplain development permit for work in a mapped floodplain. With the Spring Creek Greenway along the south and east sides, we check every address against the flood map before we quote.
Does the HOA need to approve my fence?
Plan on it. The Spring Trails Community Association oversees the neighborhood. We confirm the current fence requirements for your section and give you a drawing and written quote to include with your request.
My lot backs up to the woods. What fence makes sense?
Cedar is the usual choice and blends in with the trees. We lay out the line to avoid big roots, set posts by hand near trunks, and keep the bottom of the fence off the ground where water runs.
Is Spring Trails part of The Woodlands?
No. It’s a separate community in Montgomery County, so The Woodlands’ RDRC process doesn’t apply. Your HOA’s rules and the county floodplain rules do.
