About Alden Bridge

A big village next to the state forest

Alden Bridge opened in 1994. Roger Galatas, then president of The Woodlands Operating Company, named it after his hometown of Alden Bridge, Louisiana. It's one of the largest villages in The Woodlands, with about 7,000 homes and more than 18,000 residents, near FM 2978 and FM 1488 and next to W.G. Jones State Forest.

The village has about 25 parks and 13 aquatic facilities. Lakeside Park, on West Alden Bridge Drive, sits beside Bear Branch Reservoir, one of the largest bodies of water in The Woodlands, and Windvale Park has a fishing pond.

Most fence work here is family-yard work: pet fences, pool barriers, and replacing fences from the 1990s and 2000s. Lots on the reservoir or a pond may fall under the rear-line rule for lake lots. The Alden Bridge Residential Design Review Committee handles approvals.

Plan first

Before you fence in Alden Bridge

  • Approvals. New fences and repairs over 8 linear feet need written approval from the Alden Bridge RDRC through the Civic Access Portal.
  • Pools. A fence that serves as a pool barrier gets inspected, and changing more than 8 feet of it triggers a new inspection.
  • Permits. Alden Bridge is in unincorporated Montgomery County. A county floodplain development permit applies only in a mapped floodplain, which is worth checking near Bear Branch. We check the map for your address.
  • Trees. Trees over 6 inches in diameter can't be removed for a fence.
  • Texas 811. We request utility locates before every dig.

Community and county rules change. We confirm what applies to your address before we quote, and we don't build until approvals are in hand.

Questions

Alden Bridge fence questions

Do you serve Alden Bridge?

Yes. Our office is at 1401 Lake Plaza Dr in Spring, just off I-45 near The Woodlands, and we work throughout Alden Bridge in 77382.

Who approves my fence in Alden Bridge?

The Alden Bridge Residential Design Review Committee, a group of resident volunteers that meets monthly at Township Town Hall on Technology Forest Blvd. Applications go in through the Township’s Civic Access Portal.

My builder fence is wearing out. Is it a repair or a replacement?

If the posts are sound, new pickets or sections may be enough. Just know that replacing, rebuilding, or moving more than 8 linear feet needs RDRC approval. We’ll tell you which way makes sense.

We're adding a pool. What does the fence need?

Pools, spas, and ponds deeper than 2 feet need a barrier that meets the residential code, with self-closing, self-latching gates. The barrier is inspected, and a temporary barrier is required any time the permanent one is down.

My yard backs to water. Can I build a privacy fence on the back?

On a lake lot, solid fences aren’t allowed along the rear property line. We check how your lot is classified and design a see-through fence up to 6’6” where the rule applies.
