Fences for Panther Creek
The second village, opened in 1977 on the west shore of Lake Woodlands.
About Panther Creek
A lake village from the late 1970s
Panther Creek opened in 1977 as the second village in The Woodlands. It's named for the creek that widens into Lake Woodlands, which forms the village's eastern edge. Northshore and Southshore parks sit on the lake, and the village has about 3,600 homes and more than 12,000 residents in ZIP 77381.
That gives Panther Creek two kinds of fence jobs. Lake lots fall under the Township rule that bans solid fences on the rear line, so the back usually gets see-through steel. Inland, many homes still have fences from the original build-out that are ready to be replaced.
New fences and larger repairs go to the Panther Creek Residential Design Review Committee, which meets monthly at Township Town Hall.
What works here
Fences that suit Panther Creek
Lakefront steel
Black powder-coated steel on the lake side keeps the view open and fits the rear-line rule for lake lots.
Ornamental fences →Pet-safe yards
Close picket spacing, a tight bottom line, and approved mesh where it's needed for small dogs.
Pet fences →Repair before replace
Some older fences just need new posts or a few sections. We'll tell you which, and whether the repair needs RDRC approval.

Before you fence in Panther Creek
- Approvals. New fences and repairs over 8 linear feet need written approval from the Panther Creek RDRC through the Civic Access Portal.
- Lake lots. No solid fence on the rear property line. See-through fences top out at 6'6".
- Permits. Panther Creek is in unincorporated Montgomery County. A county floodplain development permit applies only in a mapped floodplain, which matters on lots near the lake and creek. We check the map for your address.
- Trees. Trees over 6 inches in diameter can't be removed for a fence. We route the line around them.
- Texas 811. We request utility locates before every dig.
Community and county rules change. We confirm what applies to your address before we quote, and we don't build until approvals are in hand.

Questions
Panther Creek fence questions
Do you serve Panther Creek?
Yes. Our office is at 1401 Lake Plaza Dr in Spring, just off I-45 near The Woodlands, and we work across Panther Creek, from lakefront lots to the interior streets.
My yard backs to Lake Woodlands. What kind of fence can I build?
Solid fences aren’t allowed along the rear property line of lake lots. A see-through fence such as powder-coated steel, up to 6’6”, is the usual choice. It keeps the water view and still works for kids and pets.
Can I add black mesh to a steel fence so my small dog can't slip through?
Yes, on the inside of a wrought iron style fence, up to 3 feet high. It’s allowed temporarily for six months or less. Permanent mesh needs evergreen screening toward the street.
Do I need approval for a small fence repair?
Only if more than 8 linear feet is replaced, redesigned, rebuilt, or moved. Smaller like-for-like fixes generally don’t need an application. Bigger repairs go to the Panther Creek RDRC.
Can I paint my cedar fence a solid color?
Paint and solid stains need approval and must be a muted shade. Transparent and semi-transparent stains on the Township’s list are pre-approved, and natural weathering is fine too.
