About Indian Springs

The hilly village

Indian Springs opened in 1984. It's named for Native American artifacts found on the land, tied to the Bidai people, and construction near the creek that year turned up some of them. It's the smallest village in The Woodlands and the only one with real hills. It sits near Woodlands Parkway, mostly in ZIP 77381 with a small part in 77382.

The village has eight parks, including Forestgate and Falconwing with their pools, and pond parks like Deer Rush Pond and Reedy Pond.

Grade is the big fence issue here. Slopes change how panels are set, how posts are footed, and how water moves along the fence line. Indian Springs is also the one village with two review committees, so we confirm which one covers your lot.

Split rail for wooded lots

A light, open fence that marks the line and threads between trees with little disturbance to roots.

Working around trees

We plan post locations around roots and trunks, and we never fasten a fence to a tree.

Plan first

Before you fence in Indian Springs

  • Approvals. New fences and repairs over 8 linear feet need written approval from your Indian Springs RDRC (TWA or WCA) through the Civic Access Portal.
  • Grade. We measure the slope along the whole line so the heights stay within the limits at every post.
  • Permits. Indian Springs is in unincorporated Montgomery County. A county floodplain development permit applies only in a mapped floodplain. We check the map for your address.
  • Trees. Trees over 6 inches in diameter can't be removed for a fence.
  • Texas 811. We request utility locates before every dig.

Community and county rules change. We confirm what applies to your address before we quote, and we don't build until approvals are in hand.

Questions

Indian Springs fence questions

Do you serve Indian Springs?

Yes. Our office is at 1401 Lake Plaza Dr in Spring, just off I-45 near The Woodlands, and we work on every street in Indian Springs.

Why does Indian Springs have two review committees?

The Township lists two RDRCs for the village, one for The Woodlands Association (TWA) and one for The Woodlands Community Association (WCA). Which one reviews your fence depends on your lot. We confirm that before we submit.

My yard slopes. Can a fence follow the grade?

Yes. On a slope we either step the panels or rake them to follow the ground, and we keep the heights inside the Township limits of 7’6” for solid fences and 6’6” for see-through.

Can I take out a tree that's in the way of my new fence?

Not if it’s more than 6 inches in diameter, measured 2 feet above the ground. The fence goes around it. Flag any tree concerns when the application goes in.

Can I use chain link to save money?

Not as a visible fence. Chain link and wire aren’t allowed in The Woodlands unless they’re fully screened inside an approved solid fence. Cedar or split rail are the usual budget options.
